Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort Opens Sportsbook

Resorts World Catskills has launched the fourth on-property sportsbook in New York State. Dubbed Sportsbook 360, the sportsbook will have the ‘official’ grand opening on September 5 in conjunction with the start of the NFL season. Several big names from New York City sports will be in attendance including former Jets/Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss along with New York Knicks’ alumni Larry Johnson and John Starks.

The new sportsbook sounds impressive:

The now opened state-of-the-art sportsbook enables patrons to watch and place wagers on a variety of sporting events. The sportsbook lounge is known as Sportsbook 360, which is reflected with the more than 35, 75-inch flat screen televisions, arranged in a 360-degree arc around a central bar, anchored by a 9’ x 16’ high-definition screen. Sportsbook 360 encompasses roughly 6,000 square feet of the casino floor, making it easily accessible to patrons who are playing on any of the 1,600 slot machines or one of more than 150 live table games. Sportsbook 360 includes a bar and more than 100 seats, and patrons have access to cashier windows and self-serve betting kiosks to place bets on their favorite teams.

The sportsbook is powered by IGT’s PlaySports platform along with content and risk management from Betgenius. Betgenius’ sportsbook trading console is integrated into the IGT platform serving live sports data feeds, pregame and in running odds as well as a price and risk management advisory service. Players can also bet at 14 self serve kiosks around the property.

Ryan Eller, President and CEO of Resorts World Catskills, is excited to offer sports betting to his property’s guests:

“We are thrilled to offer patrons access to Sportsbook 360 for a unique, integrated gaming and lounge experience within our casino resort. We are committed to providing unparalleled gaming in the region and the sophistication of our sportsbook perfectly complements our diverse gaming offerings, allowing patrons to watch games, place wagers, and enjoy even more entertainment and traditional casino gaming, all within close proximity to the New York Metro Area.”

Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital Senior Vice President, touted the PlaySports platform’s versatility:

“Adding Resorts World Catskills to the growing list of operators leveraging the IGT PlaySports platform reinforces the quality, versatility and market readiness of our omni-channel solution. The continued expansion of IGT PlaySports’ footprint validates that we are serious about sports betting, and our ’50-state solution’ can service a diverse range of IGT customers spanning commercial and tribal casinos, lotteries and racetracks.”

Resorts World is playing up the narrative that they are ‘New York’s newest and closest integrated casino resort to Manhattan’. This is technically correct but the fact remains that New Jersey remains a more convenient option for NYC area sports bettors. Resorts World is just over 2 hours from the NYC Metro Area while the Meadowlands is less than an hour away. Unfortunately for New York residents mobile betting is nowhere in sight thanks to their dysfunctional state government.
