theScore Launches Mobile Sports Betting App in New Jersey

A few weeks ago we wrote about Canadian sports media company theScore and their plans to enter the burgeoning New Jersey sports betting marketplace. Earlier this week, their app–called theScore Bet–was released and is now live for New Jersey bettors.

The company recently changed their name to ‘Score Media and Gaming’ to reflect their product expansion. The new betting app provides a tight integration with their popular sports news and score app. You can expect to see theScore Bet in other jurisdictions very soon. They have access to 11 other states via a partnership with Penn National Gaming.

At launch, the menu of sports betting options is limited. Right now, betting is available on NFL and NCAA football, NBA and NCAA basketball, MLB baseball, NHL hockey, as well as soccer from the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, English Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and MLS. Support for additional sports including golf, tennis, boxing and MMA is reportedly ‘coming soon’.

John Levy, founder and CEO of theScore spoke effusively about the new app:

“theScore Bet is a completely unique and ground-breaking mobile sports betting experience. Our team has launched a best-in-class sports betting app that’s also been seamlessly integrated with our market-leading media app. Millions of sports fans all over North America were already using theScore, with many relying on our data and content to help inform their betting decisions. Now, starting with fans in New Jersey, we’ll be able to bring the bet right to them. We’ve always believed sports betting is just one facet of the overall fan experience, and now with theScore Bet we can deliver sports betting the way it was meant to be.”

theScore Bet was built from the ground up by the same in-house team responsible for their sports news/score application. The sports betting functionality is provided using technology from Bet.Works. The app is now available for both iOS and Android.
